This was my first book and details my great, great grandfather, Kimber M. Snyder, who was a Union Soldier in the Civil War. Intrigued by a family story that he was court-martialed for freeing prisoners during the war, my research and the subsequent book about his life uncovered the events surrounding his arrest and acquittal. I followed his life from a young boy in Western Pennsylvania to his work as a hired farm hand in Kentucky and Indiana. His is a story of the life of so many during this time; the working class who helped to make our country what it is today. For those scholars wanting to compare Civil War battle interpretations, the book includes over 100 sources and about 1,800 footnotes, including a new look at the Battle of Pickett's Mill in Georgia, where the 78th Pennsylvania has been criticized for their poor fighting efforts. My research indicated just the opposite was true. On a more personal note, I was able to locate his gravesite, which had been forgotten by the family for nearly a century. www.authorhouse.com
